Sometimes a word gets stuck in my head for no apparent reason. Today, it’s “gewgaw”.
It can be pronounced with a /gju/ or /gu/; I believe I prefer /gju/ as it sounds less like baby talk. But of course, the word “bauble” sounds babyish too. Maybe the very idea is infantile.
Anyway I don’t know when I even heard or read “gewgaw”, but there it is, in my head, distracting me from whatever else I might want to think about.
